From Shortages to Solutions: Good Green Jobs and Labour Migration in Cities
kMatrix has worked closely with C40 and partners to provide data in evidence for expected labour demand and potential workforce development scenarios, for selected sectors and cities around the world.
About the study: Urban green transitions will create a demand boom for skilled labour. The first-of-its-kind research included in this report, covering 25 cities across 7 countries, projects that climate action may create millions of green jobs by 2040 across construction, transport and waste management. Leveraging data modeling by kMatrix, this report estimates how increased investment in local workforce skills training and inclusive migration policies could unlock huge economic growth and just and green transitions for all.
This report is part of C40’s Inclusive Climate Action programme and was made possible through a joint effort by the Climate Migration Council – a group of leaders who share a commitment to accelerating global solutions to climate-related migration – and the Mayors Migration Council, a mayor-led coalition that accelerates ambitious global action on migration and displacement.
